Our friendly riverside craft beer bar. Serving sizzling street food from KERB.

From our riverside location on London’s vibrant South Bank, The Understudy serves up an unbeatable line-up of Gipsy Hill beers and guest ales, wine from the best independent makers, spirits by East London Liquor Co. and a curated selection of three KERB street food traders.

Bring your mates and settle into our vibrant indoor bar, or soak up the views on our outdoor terrace.

Look out for regular tap takeovers, special events and limited edition themed dishes.

Meltdown Cheeseburgers

Our newest act are slinging out a range of juicy, oozy burgers, (choose from double smashed beef patty, spiced chicken thigh or vegan patty) – plus rotating monthly specials and loaded beef brisket fries.

Bad Boy Pizza Society

National Pizza of the Year 2022 winners with their Pepperoni Alla Vodka pizza, BBPS are serving their fluffy yet crispy Sicilian-style rectangular pizza only at the National Theatre. (vegan options available).

Sireli

Translating to ‘my love’ in Armenian, Sireli focuses on delicious, modern Middle-Eastern food, with a selection of flatbread wraps and small plates.

Kids menu

Meltdown Cheesburgers have a kids cheeseburger with ketchup and small portion of chips, and Bad Boy Pizza Society offer Cheesy garlic bread dippers with a tasty tomato dip, each priced at £6.

Going no, or low, for January?

We’re welcoming Botivo‘s award-winning, botanical aperitif inspired drink. Its bittersweet, herbal and citrus notes makes for a unique + tasty bev, and we’ve partnered up to create four cocktails – the Rhubarb Collins (Botivo, rhubarb + lime), and Gold Rush (Botivo, Bourbon + blood orange), Vino Tivo (Botivo, gin, red wine) and The OG (Botivo, Soda, orange).

We’ll also be pouring expertly crafted, lower alcohol session beers all month from our pals down the road at Small Beer.
